REPOST: Free Book Giveaway-Interview With Author Paty Jager

OKAY, welcome back. Unfortunately, due to Blogger making upgrades, the post from yesterday with Paty Jager is gone. Please recomment, and we'll rerun this interview with a one book giveaway until Saturday morning.

BIO: As a wife, mother, grandmother, and the one who cleans pens and delivers the hay, award-winning author Paty Jager has brought her husband of thirty-one years to maturity, along with four children on 350 acres. She not only writes the western lifestyle, she lives it. Paty has been a member of RWA for twelve years, belonging to several online chapters as well as EPIC, and Central Oregon Writers Guild. She has nine published romance novels. Five historical westerns, two contemporary westerns and two paranormal historical westerns.

Thanks for being here again, Paty. It’s a pleasure.

#1- Tell us a little about yourself outside of your writing career…
I help my husband raise calves from thirty head of cattle, and hay sixty acres. We built the house we currently live in and didn't get divorced. Which many people said would happen. After spending ten years as a 4-H program assistant and twenty years as a 4-H leader, I now travel around the state judging 4-H home ec exhibits and contests.

#2- Can you tell us a bit about your new book in this giveaway, Spirit of the Lake?
Spirit of the Lake is the second book in my spirit trilogy. Wewukiye (Way-woo-key-ya) the hero is a Nimiipuu(Nez Perce) spirit. When not in his man form he is a bull elk who lives in Wallowa Lake. He is the antlered creature of the lake that is in the Nez Perce legends. The heroine, Dove, is a Nimiipuu maiden who tries to end her life because the leaders and her family refuse to listen when she tells them a Whiteman they believe is a friend raped her and she is carrying that child. Wewukiye believes her and offers his support to not only help her get through the pregnancy but to prove the Whiteman's deceit. While they are on this journey they fall in love but know it is hopeless for them to be together given their two different worlds.

#3- How do you handle the negative reviews and critiques you receive?
When I receive a negative review I vent to one writer friend who uses me in the same way then I forget about it. It's one reviewer's opinion. I've read books others raved about and didn’t see the same thing they did so I don’t let it tweak me for long. If one of my critique partners mentions something that quivers my hackles, I set the information aside and think on it. Then I go back with a clear head and see if they had a valid point.

#4- How was your experience working with The Wild Rose Press (publisher)?
The Wild Rose Press has been a wonderful place for me to get my books out to the public. I've had years of agent and editor letters saying loved it but. Wild Rose Press was willing to take a gamble on me from the first book I submitted to this paranormal trilogy set among Native Americans.

#5- Assuming you get any time to read, what authors do you like to read, and were there any books that stand out from your childhood as favorites?
Lately I've been making up for not reading as much as I would have liked the last few years. I enjoy reading romance but I also enjoy mysteries. And that's why I add a little mystery into my books. So lately I've been reading a lot of mysteries. Elizabeth Dearl, Jessie Crockett, and Terry O'Dell have been my latest mystery/suspense reads. Romance, Lauri Robinson, Amanda McCabe, and Liz Talley. My favorite books from childhood were Nancy Drew Mysteries, anything by Marguerite Henry, Laura Ingalls Wilder, and Walter Farley Black Stallion books.

#6- Are there any upcoming releases we would like to know about, and could you give us your web site so readers can check it out?
Spirit of the Lake is my current release.
Two generations after his brother became mortal, Wewukiye, the lake spirit, prevents a Nimiipuu maiden from drowning and becomes caught up in her sorrow and her heart. Her tribe ignores Dove's shameful accusations—a White man took her body, leaving her pregnant, and he plans to take their land.Wewukiye vows to care for her until she gives birth, to help her prove the White man is deceitful and restore her place in her tribe.
As they travel on their quest for justice, Dove reveals spiritual abilities yet unknown in her people, ensnaring Wewukiye’s respect and awe. But can love between a mortal and a spirit grow without consequences?
You can find my historical western series and the first book int eh spirit trilogy at my website: www.patyjager.net

#7- This about concludes it. Thank you again for joining us. Is there anything else you would like to share?

There are no words to describe how much I loved Spirit of the Mountain. It was remarkable and easily one of the best books I've ever read. I simply must read Spirit of the Lake.
