BIO: Author Loreen Augeri lives in Massachusetts with her husband of twenty-nine years and two daughters. She is a member of RWA and the New England Chapter. When she is not writing or working in the town library, she enjoys reading, walking, and spending time at the beach.

Thanks for being here, Loreen. It’s a pleasure.

#1- Tell us a little about yourself outside of your writing career…
Thanks for having me on your blog today. I would say my life is pretty ordinary. I’ve been married for twenty-nine years and have two children. I like to read and go the beach in the summer. I walk year-round for exercise even though I live in the northeast where the winters are frigid. Most people babysit, but I dogsit for my daughter’s dachshund puppy during the day. I also have a parakeet that knows how to fly but hasn’t learned how to land.

#2- Can you tell us a bit about your book in this giveaway, TORMENTED HEARTS?
Tormented Hearts is a historical romance published by The Wild Rose Press and the blurb and excerpt are below.
Blurb: The world of Brett Armstrong, the Earl of Tremont, collapses when his wife and unborn child die. Determined to punish himself for the part he played in their demise, he turns his back on society and retreats to the country. Hard, physical labor during the day and mind-numbing gin at night help to keep at bay the demons that threaten to devour him. Until Catherine Hammond creeps into his world. Not wishing to resurrect his dormant emotions and the resulting pain, Brett struggles against the sensuality she exudes and battles to defeat his rising desire.
Abused by her aristocratic husband, commoner Catherine Hammond flees from his cruelty. Her hope is to hide and create a new life. She vows to never again associate with the upper classes that have heaped unbearable pain upon her family. Escaping without funds, Catherine is forced to work as a servant in the Earl of Tremont's household. His tantalizing, amorous advances ignite a fire within the cold regions of her heart, but she refuses to fall in love with a man who may destroy her.
Excerpt: As she stalked past him, his fingers grazed her shoulder to halt her. A sizzling warmth pierced her skin and swirled throughout her body. Catherine restrained the gasp that fought to break from her lips. She’d prayed the sensations she experienced last night resulted from the lingering effects of the dream and lack of sleep, but they seared her again.
Brett jerked his hand back as if she scalded him, and it hovered in the air above her shoulder. Unsure, she turned to him. The pulse in his temple beat at a frantic rate, and the muscles in his jaw clenched. It affected him, too. She delved deep into his eyes, and the turmoil that appeared to tear him in different directions caught and captured her.
She yearned for the heat of his fingers to engulf her again, to feel his body pressed against hers like last night, the whisper of his breath on her cheek, the exquisite thrill of not being alone. Her gaze fell to his appealing, moist lips. Not thin and dry like Lord Wallingford’s.
Brett leaned toward her and then withdrew. He swallowed, and his Adam’s apple bobbed before he cleared his throat. “You can stay here with him.”
She blinked as the strange immediacy to be embraced faded away. What had she been thinking? She never wanted another man to touch her. Ever. Especially not one of his station.
From Long and Short Reviews:
Tormented Hearts is a wonderful story with memorable characters, an engaging plot, and enough heart to ensure you won’t want to stop reading.

#3- How do you handle the negative reviews and critiques you receive?
This is my first book, and I haven’t received any negative reviews yet. I will feel hurt if I receive one, but I know reading is subjective and not everyone likes the same thing.

#4- I love your cover. How was your experience with your publisher, The Wild Rose Press?
The Wild Rose Press is a great publisher to work with. They are quick to answer my questions and my editor was terrific. When I queried them and then sent the full manuscript, they told me when they would get back to me and they were true to their word. The other TWRP authors are very friendly and supportive.

#5- Assuming you get any time to read, what authors do you like to read, and were there any books that stand out from your childhood as favorites?
I like Johanna Lindsey’s and Catherine Coulter’s earlier historicals, Brenda Joyce, Sabrina Jeffries, Candace Camp, Lynsay Sands, Shannon Drake, Teresa Medeiros, Julianne MacLean, Monica McCarty, and Joanna Bourne to name a few.
My childhood favorites were Nancy Drew, Call of the Wild, Black Beauty, and any other stories that had horses in them.

#6- Are there any upcoming releases we would like to know about, and could you give us your web site so readers can check it out?
I don’t have any releases coming out in the near future, but I have two manuscripts I am working on and an idea for a third. My website is www.loreenaugeri.com. You can find buy links and more about me and Tormented Hearts on my website. I am also on Facebook and Goodreads.

#7- This about concludes it. Thank you again for joining us. Is there anything else you would like to share?
If you are working toward something never give up because if you do, it will never happen. I tried to get published for eight years before I was offered a contract for one of my stories.
