Author Suzanne Davis Marion is a graduate of the University of Arizona and the University of Houston Moores School of Music. She is a singer, pianist, and teacher; having recently opened a small business creating personalized lullabies and play songs for young children. She resides in Texas with her husband.
Illustrator Marj Hales graduated from Concordia College in Minnesota and received a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting from the University of Oklahoma. She enjoys watercolors of animals and florals as her primary subjects.
While Christina was preparing for her ballet class, she discovers a dilemma- She had too many tutus and could not decide which one to wear. Going through each one in her closet, she imagines dancing to all the colors.
The only issue I have with the book is the opener. I found it unnecessary and dragged out. Christina could have simply tried them on, and had the book open with her in front of her closet, instead of going through the whole house. I think the title would have sufficed with just Too Many Tutus instead of adding the extra “Too.”
This book, targeted for girls 3-8, is a brilliant exploration of colors and problem solving for young children. Both whimsical and sweet, the illustrations are extraordinary, and will draw in the target audience immediately. It is a hardcover, and put together beautifully. A recommended read!
