BIO: Linda has taken a somewhat winding road to becoming a professional writer. She's worked in the airline industry, publishing industry, and as a freelance writer/editor in the technology field. Her first full-length novel, a romantic suspense called Forget-Me-Not, was released on Feb. 18, 2011, by the Wild Rose Press, following Montana Belle, a western novella, published by The Wild Rose Press in December 2010. She resides in central Indiana with her husband and young son.

#1- Tell us a little about yourself outside of your writing career…
I'm a pretty typical working mom. My day job is as a freelance writer/editor of technical books. I'm lucky enough to work from home, which allows me to be there to meet the school bus when it comes and to work in (usually) daily time for writing. I wrote most of Forget-Me-Not before my son started school, however--I did a lot of writing after he'd gone to bed for the night!
#2- Can you tell us a bit about the book in this giveaway and where the inspiration camr from?
I spent time in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area on the Minnesota/Canadian border several years ago. I was struck by its beauty and remoteness and really wanted to set a story there. I also was interested the potential in an amnesia story line. What if a hero started off the story with a head injury suffered in a car accident in this remote area, near the heroine's cabin? He wouldn't know why he was there or who he was. From there, Jacob and Lara's story just unfolded naturally.
#3- How do you handle the negative reviews and critiques you receive?
I've been fortunate to not receive too many nasty reviews yet. Being part of a critique group before I was published was helpful though. I got feedback on my writing, which is good, but I also had the experience of giving a story to four people to read and having one love it, one hate it, and the other two think it was so-so. You realize that a review or critique is just one person's opinion.
#4- When did you first know you wanted to be a writer and when did you start taking it seriously?
I always knew I wanted to be a writer from the time I was a child. I started writing in high school and made my first attempt at a (very bad) novel in college. In my late twenties, life got in the way when I married, started a new career, bought a house, had a baby, and all that good stuff. I was away from it for a few years. I got really serious and submitted my first novel, Forget-Me-Not, about 3-4 years ago. It sold to the third publisher I sent it to.
#5- Assuming you get any time to read, what authors do you like to read, and were there any books that stand out from your childhood as favorites?
Oh, yes. As I child, I love Nancy Drew, the Little House on the Prairie books, Little Women, and then Gone with the Wind when I was a teenager. I started reading romance in my teens too. I discovered Jane Austen after college and she's my favorite writer. Now I read romance and non-fiction. Laura Kinsale, Erin McCarthy, Shannon McKenna, and Lisa Hendrix are the romance writers whose releases I get most excited about now.

Really nice interview! It's nice to hear about other authors who suffer the distractions of daily life, and yet find a way to get back on track. Can't wait to read the book! I've been to Minnesota, had family that lived there, so it will be very interesting for me!

AMY-- a critique group or critique partner is another writer or group of writers who look at an author's work before it is submitted to agents and editors. It aids in finding trouble areas and polishing a manuscript. Very helpful!

hi im desi and live in mo i also did get a dog form a lady who had the kennel she was going to kill the dog why he bit the balls off a big dog it was funny he small pom and he been with me for all most 4 years now and i did have pit boxer for 18 years so i now what you mean about dogs but i love to read and having time between i love to read it and then blog on it
